Panel of scholars reviews the connection between the Young Turk Revolution of 1908 and the 1909 massacres of Armenians accused of stirring up trouble against the Committee of Union and Progress. The panelists stress how the level of violence in 1909 was a prelude to the genocide six years later. Also, panelists emphasize that the revolutionary promises of a constitution and more equitable treatment of all people in the empire were unfulfilled. The Armenians were frustrated and disappointed with broken promises. Their frustrations erupted in different communities of Adana.
